Here is a note from Mark and Nancy Petri sent to the Rootes United 2010 team, reflecting on the events at our United.

Being teachers for 35+ years, Jan and I have always found plenty of criticism for what a person is attempting to do. One positive feedback puts you on a “high” for along time to come. I’m sure the rest of the United Team feels the same way.

Locale: “Mid-coast” Maine – with changing foliage – could it be any nicer?
Samoset Resort: Beautiful facilities – with its own private lighthouse!
Activities: Something for everyone – too many for any one (as usual).
Hospitality: How could you beat a bathtub full of ice & beer?
Rally: Every participant automatically a winner.
Autocross: Challenging course, on a runway – with biplanes!
Concours: Fantastic setting – too many pretty cars to see them all.
Banquet: Delicious meal with informative presentations.
Bonus Points:
  • Owl’s Head Museum is a great treat – old cars plus Aeroplanes.
  • View from the Camden Hills State Park was incredible. A photo similar to one of ours from there was featured on “Bing” a few days later.
  • When was the last time nearly 60 Rootes vehicles were together in 1 place?
  • Spending time with many Sunbeam friends.
