I’m slowly reading the Carroll Shelby authorized autobiography (Rinsey Mills).
There is a lot of detail regarding the Shelby’s racing exploits and the Cobras, >350s,
There is mention of the Tiger and its development, but also a "less than flattering" account of their short-lived racing effort in 1964.
Lew Spenser is quoted as saying that he won early on at Willow Springs, "…but it was an awful car, awful. And then I crashed it at Leguna Seca – after that no more!"
The author goes on to note "Despite Lew’s unhappy memories of this particular Sunbeam Tiger it went on to be further developed and was raced with some success by Hollywood Sports Cars…"
Does anyone know anything further – was it actually that same car? (sounded like it was crashed pretty well at Leguna Seca)
