Team Tiger finally ran the table by winning both weekend races. Both were the come from behind races that has been the trend in 2014. The Tiger was the overall pole winner with the Viper starting 3rd overall in both races. In both races the Viper won the drag to turn 1 and the chase began. Both cars were lapping below the track record but the Viper was harder on his tires and brakes and we took the lead in both races with just a handful of laps. I met at least 3 Tiger owners this weekend and I am sorry I did not write your names down ( busy weekend schedule) but thank you for coming out and hope you enjoyed the show. With the 2 wins Team Tiger takes the Northern Conference GT2 championship.

Team Tiger has one last race on the schedule for 2014 at Rd Atlanta October 30th – November 2nd. There will be a stand alone GT2/GT3 race for bragging rights on the East Coast. Looks like a very competitive field shaping up.

Grattan Packs Heat Into SCCA Northern Conference Races on Saturday

BELDING, Mich. (August 23, 2014) – Heat and humidity were the first things drivers often mentioned after crawling from their cars following Round 11 of the SCCA Northern Conference Majors Tour races at Grattan Raceway on Saturday.

The effort it took to win on the physically demanding track was the second.

Twenty-four drivers scored wins in the penultimate round of the season-long Championship race on Saturday during 25 minute races at the Michigan track, with a handful clinching titles with the effort.

      Highlights from Saturday’s races:

Group 1: Jonathan Start got the jump on polesitter Tom Patton at the green flag, moving his No. 51 Kalin Construction/Hoosier/Carbotech Dodge Viper into the lead and setting the early pace overall in GT-2. Patton battled back however, taking the outside line through the final corner of lap four and running side-by-side with the Viper up the front straight. Under braking for the right handed turn one, the No. 50 Hoosier Tires/Red Line Oil Sunbeam Tiger moved into the lead.

That was short-lived, however, as Patton spun in the difficult turn three, just two corners after taking the point. Patton kept the Tiger running (and from collecting Start in the spin), and began the chase while Start worked through traffic. On lap 13, Start’s mirrors were once again full of Patton’s Tiger.

Patton regained the lead on lap 14 through turn 11, and this time, held on to the checkered flag.

SCCA Northern Conference 2014 Season Gets Checkered Flag at Grattan

BELDING, Mich. (August 24, 2014) – The 2014 SCCA Northern Conference Majors Tour wrapped on Sunday at Grattan Raceway with 25-lap races in six groups. The season-long championship battle counted the best eight of 12 races available on the schedule, with a handful of point races coming down to the final stop on Sunday.

      Sunday highlights included:

Group 1: Battles through the field marked the first group of the day and sealed Championships in three classes.

Up front, Jonathan Start’s strategy of stretching the lead early in the No. 51 Kalin Construction/Hoosier/Carbotech Dodge Viper before the tires went away worked early as he climbed away from Tom Patton. Start was up more than eight seconds after lap seven and tried to maintain the gap when Patton’s No. 50 Hoosier Tires/Red Line Oil Sunbeam Tiger started chipping away.

On lap 17, Patton tried to go to the outside of Start through the final corner and up the front straight, but lost momentum and fell back just slightly. On lap 21, however, he finally fought his way through, taking over the lead with four laps to go and holding it to the finish. The win clinched the GT-2 Championship for Patton.
