        Ground Rules

There are a few ground rules for participation in the forum and these must be read together with the terms and conditions which all forum users must adhere to. Failure to follow these terms and conditions and follow the forum etiquette may lead to removal of posting privileges. Please enjoy the use of the forum, and follow our basic rules.

        RESPECT OTHER USERS

        Privacy Issues

This forum is open to the general public which means that anyone can read your messages. Forum messages are like notes written on a public bulletin board. Refrain from posting anything that you wouldn’t want anyone to read (like your phone number or street address, perhaps?) Read everything liberally, but post conservatively.

        Be civil

Do not feel compelled to defend your honor in public. You may read things that you could find offensive, before going into a public condemnation please consider that the person may not have intended to cause offense. It is very easy to misinterpret a post on forums, especially when dealing with multinational citizens. There is absolutely no need to resort to insults. Respect others’ views even if you disagree with them. Remember many items are viewed differently by different generations.

        Stay on topic

Read the title of the topic, please remain faithful to the topic, and do not hijack the thread. This is annoying to the topic poster and to other readers and unnecessarily extends the length of the thread.

        Be kind to newcomers

This is the club extension to reach all enthusiasts, please make them feel welcome. Newcomers are encouraged to use the search facility before asking questions. However, it is not always obvious to a newcomer what to type into the search in the first place! Please be patient with newcomers and where possible, try to direct them to information that is relevant to their query. Remember that our goal is to make experts out of newcomers, and you were once a learner too.

        Let sleeping dogs lie

It’s tempting to revisit controversial decisions you disagree with, but it’s rarely productive to do so, since it almost always results in the same heated, lengthy, and time/energy draining discussions leading to the same conclusion that was reached in the last round.

Therefore, for issues already raised, discussed, and decided upon, reopen the discussion only if you have significant new information that would reasonably prompt reconsideration of the original decision.

        No cross posting

It is almost never appropriate to send the same message to different threads. Other users may not follow both threads.

        Ignore spammers

You may see spam on the Forum, the administrators and moderators will attempt to remove spam as soon as is practical. If you see Spam on the forum, please bring it to the attention of a moderator.

        Identify your subject matter

Please make the subject line of your post the best indication of what the subject matter is. If you need help with something, the subject “HELP ME”, isn’t appropriate. Please specifically categorize what you are posting about.

Enjoy the use of this forum, it will remain free to all Rootes Automotive enthusiasts as long as it is not abused or misused.
