Bowling Green is our destination, and it is conveniently located near the intersection of highways I-65 and I-165, about an hour south of Lexington, KY, and an hour north of Nashville, TN.

The registration fee is $185 single/$350 two adults in same car. This will jump to $210/$385 on August 1.

Bowling Green is the home to the National Corvette Museum (NCM) and Motorsports Park, and as such, it offers much for the automotive enthusiast. Many other interesting attractions are located here.

If that were not enough, the proximity to Kentucky horse and bourbon country might tempt some to wander out on their own, especially if you plan for extra days before or after the event. Speaking of extra days before the event, Joe Parlanti is working on some drives and visits to other Kentucky attractions before the event. For more information, contact Joe at (240) 632-0649 or email Ch********@te**.org

Thursday

For most, Thursday is arrival day. Registration will open at 12 noon. Check-in and get your ID and goodie bag. For those who arrive early we have arranged for some track time starting at 12 noon Thursday at the 3.2 mile road course at NCM Motorsports Park racetrack.

At noon on Thursday, you will not want to miss the opportunity to get some track time on the 3.2 mile road course at the National Corvette Museum (NCM) Motorsports Park racetrack. (See Track map) “Touring laps” are taken two cars at a time behind a pace car. Sound tame? The NCM people assure me you will get the “track experience.” Officials try to group the participants based upon the type car and how hard they want to push their cars. Helmets are RECOMMENDED, but not required. Lap speeds will be limited for those not wearing helmets.

Although we will visit as a group, to participate you will need to register separately with the NCM. Cost is $100 for four laps.

REGISTRATION: You must register for track time on BOTH the TEAE website AND on the NCM site here

Friday

On Friday morning we will set out on a scenic drive generally following the Duncan Hines Scenic Byway, with some modifications for length and time. This route will take us in and around Mammoth Cave National Park.

Our drive will end at the National Corvette Museum where we will enjoy a lunch of sandwich wraps: Turkey, Chicken, or Ham with chips, cookie and bottle of water. (Make your choice at registration)

Then we’ll tour the Corvette Museum. The cost for lunch and the museum tour are included in your registration fee.

Late Friday afternoon we will squeeze in a quick meeting for those judging at the concours.

On Friday evening, we will have a welcome reception with cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres. A General Membership meeting will follow immediately in the same room. After the membership meeting, we are planning to show a movie or documentary about motor racing or similar subject.

Saturday: Concours

Our concours will be conveniently located at the Grounds at Hartland, in a fenced-in, grassy paddock adjacent to the hotel (yellow oval at left).

Choose the class for your car when you register. If you are not sure of your class please review the class guidelines in our Concours Rulebook. Details about the new Preservation class for unrestored cars is on page 10 in the link above.

If you are considering the Stock class, be sure to look at the Alpine and Tiger Judging Guides.

Lunch is provided at the concours: Your choice of Turkey, Ham, or Roast Beef with with chips, cookie, and fruit. (Make your choice at registration) We will have soda/water on the field.

Saturday evening: Speaker

You have been reading about Tom Patton’s exploits on the race track. He’ll be our guest speaker on Saturday evening. Tom, the 1999 SCCA GT2 Champion, will regale us on his forty plus years of racing his Sunbeam Tiger against the best the SCCA has to offer. If you have questions about Tom, his Sunbeam or his on track exploits, here is your chance to get the answers firsthand.

Sunday

Sunday will b e a busy day with several different activities planned. Because of the geographic separation and the timing of the activities, participation in only one is possible. Admission to all Sunday activities (except the autocross) are included in your registration fee.

Autocross

This year we will participate in the event held by the Kentucky Region of the Sports Car Club of America (KYSCCA) at the NCM Motorsports Park. KYSCCA requires each participant to register and pay for the autocross directly with the KYSCCA ($50 for non-SCCA members.) KYSCCA has not yet opened registration for this event. We will send out an announcement with instructions once registration is open. Look for additional information about the KYSCCA autocross program here.

Please note that participants are required to pass a KYSCCA tech inspection and approved helmets are required. Loaner helmets are no longer available. See following link for approved helmets.

Remember, if participating in the autocross, attendees must also sign up when you complete the United 40 registration; and be sure to tell us your TEAE class.

Lane Motor Museum

I am sure many will want to go on the tour of the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, TN. This tour will require a one-way drive of approximately one hour, fifteen minutes. The Lane Museum is one of the premier auto museums in the country.

Mammoth Cave Tour

One of the highlights of the Bowling Green area is Mammoth Cave. We are planning on the Gothic Avenue Tour, as this tour is a bit less strenuous. That said, this tour is two hours in length and involves walking about a mile and up/down 160 steps. We can also arrange for the two hour “Accessible Tour.” That tour still has a fair amount of walking but no stairs.

If you plan to go on the Mammoth Cave Tour, PLEASE REGISTER EARLY. Reservations for cave tours in September will open around mid-July. No separate group tours are available, so we must compete against the general public to secure tour slots. Once the slots are gone there are no more…so we must be ready to reserve our slots as soon as reservations open.

GoKart Racing

Our last activity for Sunday is kart racing at the NCM Motorsports Park. Commencing at noon, each participant will get an eight-minute session. The first session is covered as part of your registration fee. You can purchase additional sessions that day.

Sunday Evening: Awards!

For the Grand Finale, our Annual Awards Banquet will be held in Ballroom A of the Holiday Inn. We will have a cash bar opening one hour before dinner. Entrees will be a choice of beef or Salmon. As always, special meals for those with dietary restrictions will be available. We will give away some nice door prizes and see which members and cars are recognized.

So that’s the plan.
