The 48th annual BASH moved this year to the prestigious Hope Lodge built 1743-48 by a Quaker entrepreneur. TEAE partnered with the Delaware Valley Triumphs Ltd. and The Delaware Valley Jaguar Clubs. for their Cars & Motorcycles of England concours (CMoE). This was also a Nationally Sanctioned Jaguar Concours d’Elegance event and our Sunbeams were the backdrops for their show. The event organizers were so excited Sunbeams would come en masse that they made an entrance sign for all entrants to see proclaiming SUNBEAMS are here.
Eighteen Sunbeams registered including two Talbots. Unfortunately, one wrecked before the BASH the other developed a gas leak on way to the BASH and stayed in the garage. It was wet and soggy proper Brit weather raining off and on all day. Unfortunately it dampened the spirits of some owners because only eight diehard owners showed up with their cars. But credit is given to several who showed up without their cars since they came for the camaraderie that is the spirit of these events.
BASH events are traditionally social and networking events, as was this BASH. Because the parent event CMoE theme is a concours event, event organizers provided judging sheets similar in concept, but not as detailed as TEAE concours to our SUNBEAM group. Mark Petri, Tom Ehrhart and Wes Rittenhouse became the default Sunbeam judges since Jaguar and Triumph don’t know what Sunbeams are. Because or rain, trunks were not opened, tops and tonneau were up.
