I put a Spal pusher fan in front of a stock, baffled header tank radiator. I use the stock 4 blade fan, and when my engine was built (decades ago), the machinist tapped the rear cyl head water jackets and ran a ‘Y’ hose to the water inlet of the manifold. He said the Ford heads were notorious for having hot spots in the back.
I believe a 9” fan fits. I used the “extra” holes in the rad support and made brackets. Works on a thermostat.
I blocked the fan holes and made a dam that fits between the crossmember (2 bolts on the flange) and the bottom of the radiator. No issues with high temps. Works like a charm.
Mine is a Mk2, finished in ‘95.

Best of luck with yours.
