I have LAT finned aluminum valve covers and have mounted the plate on a magnetic sheet. I then placed it on the firewall on the passenger side.

Originally, the plate was on the passenger valve cover towards the rear.

I find the magnetic sheet does not affect the paint and I can easily remove the plate if I need to. I have done this with dash plaques and other tags I wish to display without paint damage.
