British Car Day draws more than 1,000 British cars and an incredible 9000 spectators. The organizers think 2022 will be epic and memorable after being cancelled two years in a row due to Covid, and they expect perhaps as many as 1500 cars will be in attendance.

TEAE Concours

Our event will be part of this huge event and our cars eligible for popular vote awards from BCD.
But we’ll have our own judging in accordance with the TEAE Concours Rules and Procedures. Plenty of awards distributed at our Banquet on Sunday evening

All the Activities

Friday and Saturday Drives

Each morning will include a driving tour of the area including lunch. We need to know at registration how many are planning to attend in order to make arrangements for the lunch that is included with registration. Details about exactly where lunch will be served and what’s on the menu will be published closer to the time.  But rest assured it will NOT be a bag of chips and a bottle of water!

Autocross Saturday Morning

Autocross on Saturday morning starts early at 8:00.  We’ve been assured that we can run our laps first, so we should be done around lunch time. In case we run late,  lunch for event drivers is included in the autocross price.

We may be able to arrange for autocross spectators to also get lunch, but we need to know about those attendees early to arrange for the food. (Please include a note to that effect in the “Other info for organizers” field on the registration form.)

Tech Sessions

We gotta learn some stuff. So Tech Sessions are planned on Friday and Saturday, some with a local connection to Rootes history. They’ll include Peter Badenoch – a former development engineer with Rootes Canada – and Bert Weitzes whose family had a Rootes dealership concession in Toronto.

TAC

We expect a large number of Tigers to be presented for TAC inspections. If you register for TAC, you’ll be notified of the specifics of time and place closer to the time.  Payment for TAC is due at the session but we need to know if you plan to bring a car. ($50US or $75Cdn)

Learn what the club is doing

The TEAE Annual General Meeting will be held Saturday afternoon, in the hospitality and parts room.

Hospitality Suite and Parts Room

Starting Thursday afternoon and throughout the weekend, we will have a large gathering area on the main floor of the hotel where we will have a hospitality suite and parts room. We will be serving a variety of beverages (both non-alcoholic, and alcoholic featuring some local wines and craft beers) and light snacks. Tables will be provided for individuals to sell Sunbeam parts to their fellow enthusiasts.

Sunday Banquet

The event will wrap up Sunday evening with a sit-down meal served in the hotel’s banquet hall. At registration you’ll be asked to choose a first and main course. See the choices here. The dessert will be Strawberry Shortcake.

T-Shirts and Polo Shirts for sale

T-shirts come in dark blue or purple.

Men’s polos are blue and NEW women’s sizes of polos are purple. You’ll find sizing charts for both shirts with information about the construction   Men’s sizes are also available with extra length for an additional $5.

Come early. Stay late.

Download a list of area attractions plus local gas and restaurants or read the list on line here.

Holiday Inn Oakville ON outside

United 39 will be based at the Holiday Inn Oakville. If you want to extend your stay in the area, the hotel is offering the same room rate for up to three additional days total, which can be on either side of the event dates.

September in Toronto

September in Toronto offers moderate weather. Daytime temperature averages are in the low to mid-70’s Fahrenheit with nighttime averages about ten degrees lower. The summer humidity has abated by mid-September which provides great weather conditions for comfortably driving a classic Sunbeam.

Southern Ontario is an area of diverse attractions, both automotive and non-automotive with many interesting local destinations within a reasonable distance of our host hotel. We are planning driving tours to specific destinations on both Friday and Saturday, and people will have the opportunity to explore the area on their own. Saturday’s events will also include the traditional autocross.

Mark your calendar and, if you need to, check your passport expiration date!

United 39 will be an event you won’t want to miss, so plug September 15 to 18, 2022 into your phones, or circle it on your calendar – we’ll look forward to seeing you there!
