April 2000 This issue marks a major event for our Club's Newsletter…the last edition done by our current Editor, John Webber. Starting with the May edition, Jim Anderson, a long time member of TE/AE (membership number 34!) takes over. Few changes are planned. Hey, why change what has worked so well! I welcome Jim into his new position and look forward to working with him in the future. Jim is an experienced journalist and has stepped forward to take over the gargantuan job of editor. A tip-of-the-Sunbeam-cap to you, Jim. And a truly heartfelt "Thank You" to John for his faithful and unselfish dedication to the Club as Editor and to Jean, his wife, for all of her assistance and support. John took over for his second term when we needed him most and really upgraded our Rootes Review, putting our newsletter on the top of all Sunbeam clubs. Thank you, John and Jean, from the Board, the Officers, the members and, especially, me. You have made a real difference. Also, another transition of an Officer. John Logan is handing over the reigns of the Membership Chair to T. J. Higgins effective June 1, 2000. John has done a professional and super conscientious job in membership and has been a real pleasure to work with. The thanks of the entire Club go to you John for your contributions. And a hearty welcome to T. J. He takes on this critical responsibility with enthusiasm and I look forward to working together. And yet another transition. Ted Stewart, long time Regional Rep for Georgia, has stepped down from that position. The Board of Directors has authorized a new Region combining Florida and Georgia and has named John Webber as the new Regional Representative. My thanks to Ted for his service over these years and welcome to John in his, yet again, new role. As you know, the annual BASH is coming up May 19th - 21st. We are holding a Board meeting (8:00 PM Friday May 19th) at the event and welcome all who are interested in attending. Topics to be addressed include a review of the changes to the By-Laws, joint membership, Concours rules, the 2000 budget and other topics as we collectively see fit. There will also be a General Meeting during the event where I will report on the "State-of the-Club". Hope to see as many of you as possible there. And for those of you in the South and not able to make it to the BASH…or even if you can…don't forget the 2nd Annual Spring Thing in Townsend, TN on May 5th -7th. We are piggybacking on the British Car Gathering and have a goal to outnumber the MGs. Be there! I think we may have seen the last of snow here in Massachusetts. The roads are still covered with the salt/sand mixture used to get us a little traction during the Winter, so it's not quite driving time yet…. but soon. A couple of spring projects ahead for me on the Tiger. I need to get a repaint of the rear fenders due to some poor prep on an earlier paint job. Always a scary thing. Also, this year, a stroker motor (347, 331, or ?) and 5 speed go in. Now that will be exciting! Jim Morrison
